Even before the fifth season arrives, Apple TV is already looking ahead. The streamer has unveiled the first images from the sixth season of Slow Horses, confirming that the new episodes will premiere on September 16.
Based on Joe Country and Slough House, the sixth and seventh novels in Mick Herron’s award-winning series, the new season will consist of six episodes and continue following the misfit MI5 agents banished to Slough House, the dumping ground overseen by the brilliant — and thoroughly unpleasant — Jackson Lamb, a role that has earned Gary Oldman Emmy, Golden Globe, and BAFTA nominations.
This time, however, the team finds itself on the run. As the members of Slough House struggle to survive, Diana Taverner, played by Kristin Scott Thomas, draws them into a dangerous game of retaliation and revenge, raising the stakes for one of television’s most acclaimed spy dramas.

In addition to Oldman and Scott Thomas, the cast includes returning stars Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Rosalind Eleazar, Joanna Scanlan, Samuel West, Ruth Bradley, and Tom Brooke. Jonathan Pryce and Hugo Weaving also return, while BAFTA-winning actor Lenny Rush joins the ensemble.
Few contemporary series have built such a consistently strong reputation as Slow Horses. The Apple TV drama has won over critics and audiences alike thanks to its sharp humor, deeply flawed characters, and espionage stories that avoid many of the genre’s usual excesses. The series has collected Emmy and BAFTA awards, and all five seasons currently hold Certified Fresh status on Rotten Tomatoes, with two seasons achieving the rare feat of earning a perfect 100 percent score from critics.
Produced by See-Saw Films, the sixth season is adapted by Gaby Chiappe and marks the return of Adam Randall as director. While viewers wait for the new episodes, all five previous seasons of Slow Horses are currently available on Apple TV.
