One of the most important revelations in this week’s episode of Widow’s Bay was partially overshadowed by the chaos surrounding the Boogeyman’s return. While Patricia was running for her life through town, trying to survive a masked killer, and Wyck was discovering that the curse was far from over, the series quietly delivered a piece of information that could completely change how we understand the story.
Richard Warren explains to Tom that he made a pact with the island’s entity and kept a signed copy of that agreement inside the cylindrical pendant he wears around his neck. More than a piece of mythology, the revelation establishes something crucial: there is a physical document containing the terms of the curse.
And shortly afterward, the pendant disappears. In a series that rarely wastes a detail, it is difficult to believe that this is a coincidence.

Until now, most theories have revolved around a seemingly simple question: who is the last living descendant of Richard Warren? After all, the founder himself states that he believes the curse can be broken if the final surviving member of his bloodline dies beyond the island’s boundaries. The problem is that this episode also confirms that the bloodline was not extinguished, as everyone believed.
The celebration shared by Tom, Wyck, and Patricia lasts only a few minutes because they discover the truth. Richard Warren may be dead, but his blood still runs through Widow’s Bay.
That is where the missing pendant becomes especially intriguing.
Fans have begun to speculate that the artifact contains more than a copy of the pact. It may also hold information about the Warren lineage itself. Perhaps names. Perhaps records. Perhaps there is a mechanism capable of identifying who inherited responsibility for the agreement across generations.
If that is true, the pendant ceases to be a historical relic and becomes the single most important object in the entire narrative. Because it could answer the question no one seems willing to ask out loud: who is Richard Warren’s true heir?
This possibility also changes the way we view Tom.
The further the season progresses, the harder it becomes to believe that he is simply another man trying to unravel the curse alongside everyone else. His obsession with knowing where Evan is at all times, his panic whenever he thinks his son may have entered the basement, the way he conceals the truth about Evan’s mother, and even the overwhelming relief he displays when he believes the curse is over all seem to take on a different meaning.

Perhaps Tom is not merely trying to protect Evan from the dangers of the island. Perhaps he is trying to protect him from a very specific truth.
One theory circulating among viewers is that Tom knows far more than he admits. Not necessarily every detail of the pact, but perhaps enough to understand that his son occupies a central position in the story of the curse. During his visions and hallucinations earlier in the season, Evan’s name repeatedly surfaced in his prayers. At the time, that seemed like nothing more than paternal love. Now, some fans are wondering whether fear was part of it as well.
Because if the only way to end the curse requires the death of Richard Warren’s final descendant beyond the island’s borders, discovering who that person is becomes the most dangerous piece of information in Widow’s Bay.
That is why the disappearance of the pendant may be so significant. Perhaps someone stole it to prevent the truth from coming out, or perhaps someone stole it because they already discovered what it reveals.

Either way, the series seems to be moving toward a deeply unsettling conclusion. The Boogeyman may have been defeated. New monsters may continue to emerge. But the real mystery was never about supernatural creatures or masked killers.
The real mystery is discovering who carries Richard Warren’s blood.
And at this point in the season, the missing pendant may be the only object capable of answering that question. It may also be the only thing capable of explaining why Tom has spent so long terrified of what Evan might discover.
