Another major renewal has arrived for fans of period dramas. Netflix has officially greenlit a second season of House of Guinness, the Stephen Knight-created series chronicling the internal struggles of the legendary Irish dynasty behind the Guinness empire. The news was first reported by Variety, although the streamer declined to comment publicly.
Set in 1860s Ireland, the first season followed the heirs of Sir Benjamin Guinness after the death of the family patriarch. Amid power struggles, sibling rivalries, and the country’s turbulent political landscape, the series was quickly compared to a blend of Succession and Peaky Blinders, a combination reflected in its strong critical reception.

Led by Anthony Boyle, Louis Partridge, Emily Fairn, and Fionn O’Shea, the ensemble cast also included James Norton, Jack Gleeson, Niamh McCormack, Michael McElhatton, Danielle Galligan, and Ann Skelly. The eight-episode first season earned an 89% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and was praised for its stylish look and gritty depiction of 19th-century Dublin, although it also sparked controversy in Ireland over its historical liberties and portrayal of post-Famine politics and anti-colonial movements.
The renewal does not come as much of a surprise. Besides ending with a major cliffhanger involving one of its key characters, Stephen Knight had already made it clear shortly after the show’s debut that he envisioned House of Guinness as a long-running saga.
Speaking to the Irish Mirror, the creator said he hoped to build something similar to what he accomplished with Peaky Blinders. “We’re going to do season two and three and four… we’re going to take this all the way to the 1960s,” he said.

According to Variety, production on the new season is expected to begin in early 2027. However, it remains unclear how involved Knight will be with the project, as he is currently busy finishing the screenplay for the next James Bond film, one of the most anticipated projects of his career.
For viewers who enjoyed the first season, the renewal reinforces the idea that the story of the Guinness family is only beginning. And if Knight follows through on his original vision, House of Guinness could evolve into another sweeping multi-generational epic from the creator of Peaky Blinders.
