For years, every Meghan Markle project seemed destined for the same fate: being judged before it even premiered. Whether it was a podcast, a documentary, or a television series, the conversation almost always revolved around the British royal family, the controversy surrounding Harry and Meghan, or the ongoing battle of narratives between the Sussexes and Buckingham Palace.

Her first Emmy nomination changes that story, at least a little.

With Love, Meghan, produced for Netflix, has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy in the Outstanding Lifestyle Program category. It is the first time a project led by Meghan has received a nomination from one of American television’s most prestigious awards, recognition that goes beyond social media buzz or tabloid headlines.

The series follows the Duchess as she explores cooking, gardening, home décor, entertaining, and wellness, welcoming celebrity guests while embracing a format that feels much closer to traditional American lifestyle television than to the documentaries that defined the early years of her Netflix partnership.

The nomination also represents a modest victory for Netflix. When the streaming platform signed its high-profile deal with Harry and Meghan, expectations were that the partnership would deliver both audience appeal and industry prestige. The documentaries certainly generated attention, but they did not always win over critics. Now, even in a different category, Netflix finally has a Meghan-led project competing for an Emmy.

That does not mean With Love, Meghan was universally praised. The series divided critics and audiences from the moment it premiered. But awards such as the Daytime Emmys evaluate the genre on its own terms, and this nomination suggests the show has found its place in an extremely competitive field.

For Meghan, the nomination may be even more meaningful than the possibility of winning. For the first time since stepping away from royal duties, one of her projects is making headlines not because of her title or the controversies surrounding her, but because of the work itself.

The winners of the Daytime Emmy Awards will be announced on October 30.
