Domingo será um dia animado. A entrevista de Meghan Markle e príncipe Harry para Oprah Winfrey deve dominar a audiência, porém para os que acompanham premiações sabe que Hollywood vai estar ligada no Critic’s Choice Awards 2021.

O Golden Globes, que abriu a temporada e meio que definiu a tendência dos vencedores, é composto por jornalistas estrangeiros apenas, portanto o Critic’s Choice Awards é essencialmente a escolha de americanos ou críticos da língua inglesa. Não chega a ser um júri popular (esse é o People’s Choice Awards), mas tampouco tem ator votando em ator. De certa forma, poderia-se esperar disparidades entre as premiações, mas não acontece. Os indicados são mais ou menos os mesmos e assim serão os escolhidos.

O Critic’s Choice Awards confirmou em transparência total as contas que colocam a Netflix como o maior estúdio da temporada. São 72 indicações totais, seguido pela HBO, com 24 e Amazon Prime Video com 18. A Warner, que é um dos principais criadores de conteúdo em Hollywood, teve apenas 10 indicações. Mesmo somando a HBO, da qual é dona, fica atrás da Netflix. É a mudança de comportamento espelhada sem a menor dúvida no reconhecimento do mercado.

Aqui pode ser diferente do Golden Globes. O filme The United States vs. Billie Holiday não foi bem recebido pela crítica e pode minar as chances de Andra Day. Zendaya será homenageada na noite com o prêmio SeeHer, que reconhece engajamento e inclusão de gênero e etnia. Mesmo assim, ela pode ser a zebra. Meu palpite é que Carey Mulligan será a eleita, mas a categoria está bem difícil de estimar esse ano.
