Lars Eriksson (Will Ferrell) always dreamt of winning the Eurovision. He was focused all his life on this goal. Alongside Sigrit Ericksdottir (Rachel McAdams), formed the duo Fire Saga and against all odds, they made it. There were no few odds on the way, mind you.
Internationally acclaimed, they managed to “win” when they replaced their hit, Double Trouble, which as the name hinted, wasn’t as lucky as they hoped, for a lovely song in homage to their home, Husavik. Bingo, no surprises, no drama, and a dream come true. Well, it’s this very same song that will take the duo straight to Los Angeles as Husavik is one of the five nominated for Best Song at the Oscars 2021. It’s happening, Lars!
We’d say if these two weren’t involved, their chances are slim. But who knows! Nah, the award is split between Io Sí, from Sophia Loren’s, Momo, and Speak Now, by Leslie Odom Jr, for One Night in Miami (my favorite). Still, such an achievement for Eurovision – The Story of Fire Saga which was one of the top hits in an early pandemic, back in 2020.
In the film, Rachel McAdams is dubbed by Molly Sandén (My Marianne), a Swedish singer who wast at the competition in 2006. Will Ferrell sings himself so it’s very likely to see him on the stage at the Oscars.
Just don’t ask for Ja Ja Ding Dong!
