Isso mesmo, mais uma vez Holding Out For a Hero entrou no universo pop dos Marvel.

Bonnie Tyler tem uma das vozes mais incríveis e únicas da música, extremamente rouca e com grande potência. A cantora galesa explodiu nos anos 1980s com um dos maiores clássicos do pop, Total Eclipse of the Heart, com um vídeo bem marcante da época. No entanto, foi com a canção escrita para o filme Footloose, Holding Out for a Hero que ela entrou para o hall dos hinos do cinema. As canções escritas por Jim Steinman, recém falecido (em abril de 2021), são simplesmente, icônicas. Por isso, quando abriu o segundo episódio de Loki, a referência ficou ainda mais interessante.

Holding Out for a Hero, na sua proposta original, era para a personagem de Kevin Bacon, o herói relutante do longa metragem de sucesso e foi co-escrita com o roteirista do filme, Dean Pitchford. Desde então, já foi regravada e usada em outros filmes, rivalizando as outras canções da trilha-sonora e ganhando vida própria.

A dobradinha Steinman e Tyler começou uma década antes de Footloose, quando o compositor se uniu a Meatloaf para produzir um dos álbuns mais aclamados dos anos 1970s, Bat Out Of Hell, uma espécie de ópera rock com melodias doces e uma grande pitada gótica nas letras.

Bonnie, que já fazia sucesso no Reino Unido, participou da faixa I’d Do Anything For Love (But I won’t do that) e seu outro sucesso, It’s a Heartache, conquistou Dean, que a escolheu para cantar uma das canções mais importantes de Footloose. Sua interpretação deu destaque às letras, que em Loki destacam exatamente uma das questões da série: quem seria mocinho e quem seria bandido? Todos precisam de um herói. Seria alguma das versões de Loki?
